The highlights of Digital Stock Trading Guru Competition
Organised by IFEC, co-organised by the Education Bureau and Hong Kong Association for Business Education, and supported by the School of Accounting and Finance of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Digital Stock Trading Guru Inter-School Competition 2023-2024 (Competition) will be held in the first quarter of 2024.
Introduction
Digital Stock Trading Guru (DSTG) is a digital learning tool developed for Secondary 4 to Secondary 6 students studying the subject “Business, Accounting and Financial Studies” (BAFS). It aims to provide students with an enjoyable means of acquiring knowledge in stock investing and financial planning through online simulation games, and develop a better understanding of the significance of adopting right attitudes towards investment.
Target
Secondary 4 to Secondary 6 BAFS students
Eligibility
- All secondary schools in Hong Kong are eligible to participate in the Competition free-of-charge.
- Each secondary school shall form a team of four BAFS students to participate in the Competition on team basis.
- Each school may only have one team participating in the Competition.
Format
- The Competition consists of two Qualifying Rounds and a Final Contest. Each Qualifying Round allows a maximum of 40 schools to participate.
- The Qualifying Round will be conducted on a team basis. Each school will assign three students to participate.
- The total portfolio value of each participating student in a team will be combined to determine the overall portfolio value of their school. The top 20 teams with the highest overall portfolio values in each Qualifying Round will progress to the Final Contest.
- The Final Contest will also be conducted in a team format with three students in each team. At the end of the Final Contest, students will be ranked for Individual Awards based on their individual portfolio value, while schools will be ranked for School Awards based on the overall portfolio value of their students.
Points to note
- Each school has to submit a list of four students who will participate in the Competition. Teacher can assign any three of the students on the list to participate in the Qualifying Round and the Final Contest.
- All students are required to bring their own digital device for the Competition.
- No briefing or instruction on DSTG will be provided during the Qualifying Rounds and the Final Contest. It is expected that the participating teams are familiarised with DSTG before joining the Competition.
- The Competition will be conducted in Cantonese.
